I visited Abaco Rehabilitation And Nursing Facility, to visit an old mentor of mine. The reason he was there is because he had liver cancer. His cancer had spread so bad that he was incapable of doing anything himself, and the hospital had moved him to this home. It looked like everything was new and also like everything was cleaned often. It looked like they took good care of all their equiment. The staff was very nice to my friend, who kept joking with them.
Most of the surliness and lack of compassion or human warmth is coming from nurses and aides ; PT, OT and Activities staff have been professional and warm. My mother is so upset about her treatment that she cried, and tears do not come easy to her, she said this is hard. At one point she even asked if she could go back to the hospital where they treat her better. This is not what I expected from Wesley Glen and am sad that this is what is happening. We Care Health Facility
They have a toilet and a sink, but there’s a communal shower. They were showing a Tina Turner video in the activity room, so the residents were all gathered around. It’s more of a traditional nursing home, but they have outside areas and a really large courtyard.
My mother had to sit in her dirty pants for 45 minutes and my sister had to go down and demand help. 45 minutes for a 102 year old woman with delicate skin. Not only can it cause skin problems but it does not help her ability to heal mentally.

The nurse manager dismissed it and a day or so later we had to beg the nurse to call the paramedics again when our loved one was unresponsive. As it turned out, our loved one turned septic due to a UTI that should have been treated. The nurse in the hospital ICU also told us that the ER had to give our loved one NARCAN again. After going through septic shock our loved survived, but was never the same again suffering from permanent damage.

Failure to ensure that all smokers were supervised as assessed and failed to ensure patients returned smoking materials to staff after breaks. Failure to ensure a resident environment was free from accident hazards when their bed/air mattress was not properly sized to the bed frame. Everything seemed very new and clean, and the rooms were very big and nice.
Other nurses and nurse's aides in Ohio nursing homes may use physical restraints to ensure that a resident remains in place while seated in a wheelchair or bed. However, any unauthorized use of a restraint is illegal and must be reported to the proper authorities, including the Ohio Department of Health and local law enforcement. There were many caregivers, so that made me think that my mom would get good care there. We walked around, and she showed me different areas that they had. If my mom were to go there, it would be a semi-private room. They do have private rooms available for an additional cost.
